TOMMY DOWN LIQUID LOVE

This slick soul from London troubadour Tommy Down slaps like no other. Laced in the traditions of soul and pop songwriting, ‘Liquid Love’ takes inspiration from the falsehood of love under the influence of alcohol, although Down stresses that it can be expanded out to other altered states. As he shares: “Liquid love was primarily written about someone you're seeing, who only really likes you when they're under the influence. I wouldn't like to pigeon hole it as just that though, as at its core it's really about addiction and breaking free of it. Whether you're addicted to a toxic person or a form of substance abuse; "Liquid love " could mean many different things, for many different people.” Listening to the emphatic pleas, “don’t think I’m leaving without you”, and the smooth instrumentation, you’d be forgiven for falling into the trap of this ‘Liquid Love’ charmer. - Hannah Thacker
